PG medical admissions soon

BANGALORE: Three months after the PGmedical and dental entrance examinations were conducted, the seat matrix hasbeen finalised, finally. The seat matrix was issued last week, much to therelief of thousands of students, for whom the last three months have been anagonising wait.This year''s PG medical/dental admissions have been delayedbecause of the government dithering over the dental seat distribution ratiobetween government and the management quotas. After deciding to maintainthe status quo for dental seats — 80 per cent management and 20 per centmerit — the government is now expected to issue the seatmatrix.Recent Supreme Court orders on minority educational institutionsand private unaided institutions delayed the process further.The SC hassaid the government cannot have any control on unaided educational institutions.The government sought a legal view as it did not want to get involved in anylegal tangle for non-compliance of the SC order.Anxious parents andstudents were upset about the undue delay in the seat-selection process."Private institutions in Karnataka are manipulating the judgment," parents hadcomplained to The Times of India.
